An American spiritual skeptic, Vikram Gandhi, decides to make a movie about the hypocrisy of the contemporary guru by proving to his audience that he can fabricate a guru identity and gain devotees. While many of Kumaré’s teachings are purposely inauthentic, the Spirit uses everything made in the illusion for a higher cause. The heart is opened through the sincerity of the student/teacher relationship; true joining is the inevitable result of Kumaré’s teachings of the mirroring principle.
Worn like a light tunic, the teacher/guru concept is laid aside, and Vikram comes to the humble realization that his former followers are his true brothers and sisters. In the end, when false identity is shown to be false, the truth remains for those with ears to hear and eyes to see.
