SearchDo I have to believe in the idea that one cannot get to the Father except through the Son?
Question:
I love the teachings of ACIM and I find so much wisdom, truth and solace in its teachings. However, I am Jewish by birth and by choice.
My one conscious block to ACIM is the Christ concept. Even before I came upon ACIM, I had a spiritual/philosophical problem with the concept that one cannot get to the father unless it's through the son. I always asked, ”Why not"? Why should one's belief in God be in any way diminished if one doesn't choose to believe in the concept that he had or didn't have a son.
I have no problem believing in the Lord, our God, with all my heart, soul and might. I believe in the truth of the teachings in ACIM.
Thus I ask, can I believe in the teachings of ACIM if I can't believe in the concept of Jesus Christ? Do the two go hand in hand? Is it not enough the I believe in the one god, the Creator of all that is?
Answer:
Thanks for your question. The only inclusive belief is forgiveness, for it is the one belief that leads beyond the ego belief system to the Truth of Oneness in God. Christ, as expressed in ACIM, is an Idea in the Mind of God. Christ is therefore not a concept, for when all concepts have been laid by Christ remains as an Eternal Being in the Mind of God. The teaching: "one cannot get to the father unless it's through the son" is a reflection of the Reality that God and Christ, Creator and Creation, Father and Son, are One in Spirit. Christ is Pure Spirit and is neither male nor female, neither Christian nor Jewish, neither son nor daughter. Do not be mistaken about the word "son,” for this is simply another word for the Creation of the Creator or the Effect of the Prime Cause. No one comes to God but through Divine Love, and this Divine Love has been called Christ or Son among many names. Christ is a Reality that expresses the Divine Love of the Creator and is far beyond all the concepts that relate to the time-space cosmos.
Belief in God is unnecessary, for God can be but Known. Ego beliefs vary, yet forgiveness is the one unified belief and thus the last belief that ever need be held. Accept Atonement and belief has ended in an experience of the Divine Love of God. Belief is the domain of the ego, yet forgiveness brings an end to the domain of illusion. Forgiveness is all-inclusive, for in forgiveness all illusions are seen as one. And thus illusion disappears forever.
Jesus Christ is a symbol of Love that is not of this world. As you Awaken you will discover a Reality that is beyond all symbols. Christ is this Spiritual Reality. You are the One!
Love always,
David
