This is a touching movie about the power of prayer and faith in God. Mack grew up in a family where his father was very violent. A grievance remains in his mind about his childhood. As a young adult, Mack seems to be happily married with three children. Then everything turns when his youngest daughter goes missing. This movie reminds us that of ourselves we don't know how or when the healing will occur. But once our prayer is genuine, healing is inevitable.
The healing comes in such a personal way to Mack; a huge mystical experience heals his mind completely. Forgiveness seems to ask so much, but it takes much more energy to maintain an upside down thought system held in place by defenses and judgments. The Holy Spirit has quite a convincing job for a mind that has shut off the light so completely. Eventually, God’s love shows us there is no point in protecting an insane thought system anymore.
Jesus says that you react to your ego in much the same way that animals react to their offspring. Animals react with a very strong protective instinct to their young, and you can see that in Mack too. Part of the awakening process is letting go of the protectionism in the mind because what is true is eternal and actually needs no protection. The idea of the need for protection was invented by the ego and it falls away as all is seen as an extension of one’s own mind.
All the healing that takes place in this movie is in Mack's mind. Everything is retranslated into an honoring of the whole process, even the memory of death is turned into a memory of God and being with Jesus. Mack is even given a choice to offer this new found gift in his heart to everyone, and be a miracle worker.
A miracle worker answers all the calls for love, no matter what form they come in. That is our purpose, to extend that love and to be available when somebody reaches out for help or even when they just need a smile. The Holy Spirit uses relationships to help us feel the sense of holiness coming into awareness, stronger and stronger. You can watch this movie with a deep sense of gratitude that the answer is showing up right here, right now, for maximal healing.
Movies are an excellent way to watch your mind, to pay attention to your emotions, and to help you discover your unconscious beliefs.
