This is a world of doors. The Spirit can guide us through the use of these doors to return home. Doubt thoughts are always manifested. It is confusing, scary, and limiting to believe in an outer world that has power over you. The ego is always making adjustments to maintain its plan. When plans are given over to the Spirit, perception is adjusted; this is what leads to real fulfillment.
Holy encounters are the Spirit’s substitute for the desires of this world. They provide a contrast experience that allows the mind to reach higher and higher to what it really wants. David Norris keeps running into his mighty companion, Elise. This fills the void that he tried to fill with the race for senator. It helps undo the belief that in order to fulfill his function he must sacrifice what his heart really wants.
Everyone is projecting onto the Chairman, a symbol for God, what they believe. They are trying to understand and fulfill the Chairman’s wishes as they perceive them. Yet even rules and structures that have served must ultimately be transcended for the even greater experience of divine Love. Norris, in the end, decides to forgo all caution and opens the door of his heart, which leads directly to the Source. In his willingness to go for only love, all of the doubt thoughts disappear. Chance plays no part and sacrifice is never necessary; it is all a plan of the Spirit to awaken to one’s True Identity beyond even the most glorified positions of this world.
