A Man Called Ove

Having lost his wife, Ove is bound by deep loneliness and grief. Without friends and without companionship he develops a hard shell that keeps everyone away. He finally sees no other choice than suicide. His inability to accept the symbols of help and hope lead to numerous failed suicide attempts. He aggressively attempts to rule the block, even though several years earlier he was deposed as president of the condominium association. It takes a feisty immigrant who thinks outside the box in this Swedish neighborhood to finally bring Ove out of his fixed patterns of aggression, grumpiness and isolation.

 

This is a movie that deals with repressed emotions and opening up to connection and an unexpected friendship.
