Silence is a still joy. It’s not based on anything in form. That’s the letting go and getting still that Father Thomas Keating talks about in this documentary of his life.  We are all connected in that silence beyond the words. In that silence, miracles happen. Be still and know—know that you don’t know anything. It’s a constant letting go and beginning again. The silence is a gift for us to remember and rest in God.

"A Course in Miracles" says, “I am ‘still’ as God created me.” W-rVI.in.5 That stillness is who we are. That’s where God is. Everything else is changing. Everything else comes and go. It’s about discovering what never changes, which is solid. When you find that solid place within, you can observe from the place. That stillness within expands forever. It’s forever real and forever new. Every religion speaks of this state: know thyself.

The human condition is not natural. That’s why Jesus says over and over in the Course, you are Spirit. Jesus knows we might not believe that. But Jesus works with us right where we’re at. We’ve created a wave of thoughts in our mind, thoughts of pain, guilt, doubt, and unworthiness. And what the Course is teaching us is to stop that wave. If we can stop that wave, we can heal it.

To stop the wave of thought, get very focused with the Holy Spirit and watch them, it’s called mind watching. It takes practice to watch our thoughts and see the ones we bite on. When you look at those thoughts with the Holy Spirit, we’re actually breaking a pattern. The thoughts have to be questioned or they keep running our lives. We were never told to watch our thoughts. We’re innocent. The miracle is that when we start paying attention to the thoughts, they go away. Happiness, joy and peace is our natural state.

Movies are an excellent way to watch your mind, to pay attention to your emotions, and to help you discover your unconscious beliefs.
