Out of deception and separate goals arise all tangled special relationships. There is a fear of dropping the mask and experiencing the true power of our minds; our inherent innocence. There is a deeply-rooted belief that we have misused our power, and that we are therefore guilty. This belief is so frightening that we have pushed our magnitude out of awareness. We need contrast experiences that wash this limited unworthy feeling of who we are from our mind.

In this movie, when Hal Jordan is given the function of being a Green Lantern, he becomes paralyzed because of his deep sense of unworthiness. Given everything by God, Hal must accept his own worthiness in order to receive everything. "A Course in Miracles" is a path of mastery through love. Hal needs to go through and beyond his own fear rather than attempt to master it.

This limitless power is God’s gift to you, because it is what you are. If you dissociate your mind from it you are perceiving the most powerful force in the universe as if it were weak, because you do not believe you are part of it. (T-7.VI.10)

In his willingness to take the steps provided by the Spirit, Hal accepts his worthiness. There is a scene where fear seems to be chasing Hal, but rather than fighting the fear, he lets it be absorbed into the light. To open yourself up to the Spirit’s use of everything, including relationships, is to open yourself up to ending the ego. The Spirit’s purpose for everything brings only healing for the whole universe.
