The ego is a belief in lack. If you believe that something in this world will give you anything or make you happy, you will suffer. It is not possible. You were created to extend that which you are. Nothing else.
Caleb believes he is a “hero” everywhere in his life, except in his marriage, where he feels distant, unloved and unloving. Whatever you feel is lacking in a situation is what you need to bring to it. Simple. As a last resort to “save” his marriage, Caleb accepts the invitation to welcome the Spirit into his life through a 40-Day Love Dare program. At first his efforts are half-hearted, as he hopes for some magical solution in form, without a real change of mind. It will never work.
Caleb has to come to see that his unhappiness is not about his wife or their marriage. It is about how connected he is to God. Without that deep connection in awareness, nothing of this world will “work,” because we are looking outside for what is within. He needs to go within and face the belief in lack in his mind.
As he steps through the program, Caleb lets go of needing a solution in form; of needing his wife to respond a certain way, or needing the marriage to be saved. He just wants to be happy regardless of the circumstances. This shift allows him to extend love from the sheer joy of it, because it’s who he is!
