The King's Speech is a great example of undoing hierarchies and the belief in an order of difficulty in miracles. George (Bertie), who is to become the King of England, has a speech impediment that makes giving public speeches extremely difficult. George’s wife seeks out Lionel, a speech therapist whose one condition is that the work he does involves equality. His “no specialness” approach means that he treats the king like all of his patients, seeing straight through the defenses and fear-based ways that maintain a false sense of security. Through trust and honesty their relationship is what enables them to serve in a way that benefits the whole.
