This movie takes us through the spiritual journey, starting with the awareness that something is missing (the father) and ending with the reunion. We witness the undoing of specialness, learning that there is no loss. This is the undoing of the idea that there ever was a separate individual doing anything. We gladly accept our true innocence and bask in the amazing love felt in the holy relationship between the two boys.
This movie is a beautiful opportunity to deepen in faith. Being fully who you are, is its teaching and demonstration. Simon teaches by accepting his function and stepping into it, no matter how stupid it seems in the eyes of the world. His uncompromising trust and deep devotion to playing his part is what shines on everyone; it is recognized by those who have an open heart.
